Tū Matau Ora champions the revitalisation and normalisation of taonga tākaro across Te Upoko o te Ika a Māui and Aotearoa, engaging all ages and abilities in culturally rich play. From schools, workplaces, and kaumātua groups to major community events, TMO fosters inclusivity, leadership, and connection. Their mahi spans Māori play spaces, disability sport innovations such as Wheelchair KĪ o Rahi, and





Cannons Creek Boxing Academy (CCBA) is a transformative force in Porirua, offering free, inclusive boxing programmes to over 90 rangatahi across nine schools. More than a gym, it is a safe haven where youth build confidence, resilience, and lifelong connections. Described as a second home, a place of healing, growth, and belonging. In 2025, CCBA athletes trained and competed across Aotearoa and Fiji, with






Ulalei Wainuiomata Sports Club has transformed primary school sport by running free, accessible football and touch competitions, alongside Māori and Pasifika Fun Days. Removing cost and travel barriers, the programmes engage over 100 teams, foster community connection, and promote inclusivity. Volunteer-led and supported by local schools, whānau, and organisations, the initiatives build






Porirua Heat Basketball Club has spent over 12 years transforming lives through inclusive sport. Entirely volunteer-run by the Penese and Motu families, PHBC delivers weekly basketball workshops for all ages and abilities, creating a safe space to connect, and belong. In the past year alone, PHBC supported over 250 players across five major leagues and tournaments —
including the first Nations Polynesian

partnerships nationwide, empowering whānau, preserving tikanga, and strengthening community resilience through the joy and values of traditional Māori games.
