Nominations are now closed. Finalist will be announced in The Dominion Post on Monday 10th May 2010.
Nominations will be accepted from March 18th 2010 with the close-off date being 12 noon April 22nd 2010.
The qualifying period for the 2010 awards is April 14th 2009 through to April 5th 2010.
Nomination forms can be filled out on the electronic nomination form and emailed (along with a media quality photo) to Caroline Kidston at carolinek@sportwellington.org.nz. Alternatively you can print off the postal nomination form and send to:

Please ensure that all nominees meet the criteria for the award they are being nominated for, if they do not, their nomination will not be accepted.
Performance by nominees will only be considered when they have occurred during the qualifying period. Nominees under consideration for the awards must meet the criteria under (a), (b) or (c) below.
(a) Through residency in the Wellington region during the qualifying period.
(b) Through representing the Wellington region in their chosen discipline during the qualifying period.
(c) Through being commonly acknowledged as a Wellingtonian (including the Wairarapa) although not regularly a resident in the region due to the demands of the international career.
The categories are as follows:
Tui Sportsman of the Year
Open to any male who has excelled as an individual or in a team in one or more sports within the qualifying period.
Sportswoman of the Year
Open to any female who has excelled as an individual or in a team in one or more sports within the qualifying period
Team of the Year
Outstanding performance by a team of two or more persons within the qualifying period (franchise or representative teams only).
Gibson Sheat Coach of the Year
Outstanding performance by a coach within the qualifying period.
Emerging Sportsperson of the Year (under 23 at the time of best performance)
Open to any individual (male or female) who has excelled as an individual or in a team in one or more sports within the qualifying period. Nominees must have left school (can be currently studying at a tertiary institute) and have been under the age of 23 at the time of best performance.
Personality of the Year
Open to an individual who has gone the extra mile in promotion of their sport either on or off the field.
Club Team of the Year
Outstanding performance by a club team, (not including franchise or representative teams), of two or more persons within the qualifying period.
New Zealand Community Trust Volunteer of the Year
Awarded to a volunteer who has displayed outstanding commitment and dedication.
Pelorus Trust Disabled Athlete of the Year
Open to an individual with a disability who has excelled as an individual or in a team in one or more sports, as a disabled athlete, within the qualifying period.
Carlton Party Hire Fair Play Award
Open to an individual, team or club who has displayed fair and honest sporting conduct within the qualifying period.
BDO Wellington Official of the Year
Outstanding performance by a referee/umpire/judge within the qualifying period.
Administrator of the Year
Significant contribution by a club/association or sport event administrator (paid or unpaid) within the qualifying period.
Community Trust of Wellington Lifetime Contribution to Sport (20 years or more of service)
Awarded to honour past or present contributions to sport.
The Dominion Post Sportsperson of the Year
The Dominion Post Sportsperson of the Year is selected from the winners of all categories (excluding "Lifetime Contribution to Sport" category). |
